QuickSurf Pro

 

Quicksurf Pro is an extended version of the popular Quicksurf surface modeling package. It provides a bi-directional link between AutoCAD, Quicksurf and relational data managers such as Paradox, FoxPro and DBase. Quicksurf Pro incorporates the entire Quicksurf surface modeling and mapping program within it. Its primary database functions may be broken into the following groups:
  • Inserting annotated blocks into your AutoCAD drawing
  • Point and shoot access to data tables from within AutoCAD
  • Loading surfaces into Quicksurf surface memory
  • Creating database tables from extracted drawing information

Quicksurf Pro is designed for mapping, analyzing and maintaining complex site data based on large dynamic sample or drillhole databases. Base maps may be created quickly and accurately from tabular data in your database tables.

Data, both text and numeric, may be posted on the map next to the sample location. Any mappable data may be loaded into Quicksurf and contoured. Any symbol inserted by Quicksurf Pro establishes a link to the database table and related data in the database tables may be edited from a dialog box by simply pointing at the symbol. This combination lets you create a base map, load and contour your data, correct any erroneous data at its source in the database and quickly produce finished annotated maps.

Environmental engineering databases containing contaminant, groundwater and geological data may be displayed, interpreted, analyzed and quantified quickly. Drill hole databases for coal mining containing stratigraphic, chemical and quality data may be combined, mapped and analyses. Overburden, innerburden and coal volumes may be calculated quickly and accurately. Petroleum exploration data bases containing formation tops, production data, core and test information may be displayed quickly and edited interactively. Hydrocarbon pore volume calculations may be calculated on a tract by tract basis.

Databases and AutoCAD  
AutoCAD is a good tool for displaying graphical data and map displays, but your drawing file is not a good place to store data.

Quicksurf Pro was designed on the premise that a relational database is the proper place for large dynamic data sets of sample and drillhole databases such as exist in coal, petroleum and environmental management. In these situations the best repository for the source data is in database tables, not drawing files. With proper use of your database manager you will be able to maintain the original raw source data as well as your corrected, quality controlled database. Both annotated and contour maps may be created quickly which reflect the current state of the master database.

The database formats specifically supported are:
  • Paradox 3.5 through Paradox 5
  • Foxpro 2.0 though 2.6
  • DBase 3 and 4
 
Quicksurf may be used seamlessly with Microsoft Access by using attached tables.
